Diomedes the Thinker

Diomedes the Thinker

My name is Diomedes, which by the way comes from the Greek language. In Greek legend Diomedes was one of the greatest heroes who fought against the Trojans. With Odysseus he entered Troy and stole the Palladium. After the Trojan War he founded the cities of Brindisi and Arpi in Italy.

Now I haven’t won nay Greek wars but I have fought a few in my bedroom. I’ve beaten that lanky cowboy from Toy Story, you know the one…wears a brown hat and boots. He and Buck Rogers so called inter gallatic warrior, were for ever battling against me. I soon finished them off though.

Anyway that’s not why I’m called Diomedes. It’s because it also means ‘thinker’ and I’m a great one for thoughts. So much so that I keep thinking what it must be like to travel the world and to see new lands and new people. I hear the world is round and that it’s impossible to fall off the edge. So I’ve taken the decision to leave my safe and secure bedroom with that caring child who has loved me for so long. I have decided to venture out into the big wide and wondorous world and to see how far I can go.

Of course I’ll need some help along the way but I’m sure that if I meet the right people they will assist me. If you are one such person then thankyou so much.Take good care of me. Keep me for a few days or weeks and keep a record of what we get upto. It would be great if you could send home some photos to my home. You can do that here by completing this form.

Eventually I’m trying to make it to a small village in New Zealand called Te Wairoa. It’s an excavated village which offers a first hand insight into the chaos and mayhem that transpired on the night Mount Tarawera erupted. It is an authentic appreciation of the people of Te Wairoa, both Maori and European, on how they lived… and died. I think it would be a great place to get to and visit. Please help me get there.
